A progressive is a clear-sighted person who recognizes truth, names it publicly, and confronts power over its failure to honor truth. A progressive recognizes, for example, that all men and women are brothers and sisters, and calls on governments to act with compassion toward those members of our human family who are sugffering - whether that be from genocide in Darfur, or from the inaccessibility of adequate health care. A progressive does what prophets have always done - name truth, and confront power about injustice.
