The 'progressive' political viewpoint focuses on socially, environmentally, and economically responsible progress. Such progress would include promoting and exploring alternative energy, protecting our environment and endangered species, reducing our national debt, promoting peaceful resolution of international conflict, and evening out the tax burden, including eliminating corporate welfare. Progressives value life, regardless of whether or not that is convenient; ie we value the lives, rights, and freedoms of, among others, people who live in Iraq, non-Christians, Republicans, gays, and those whose insurance has run out. We oppose the war in Iraq, along with the other corruptions manfested by our current government. We want to create a country where the citizens know what their government is doing and why, where people participate in their own governing, and where our grandchildren will still find beauty and resourses.
