those who see what works do not re-invent the wheel, and keep their minds open to what a wheel could be used in for the purpose of moving the progress of civilization for all, from bottom to top, are progrssives. keeping at the forefront the importance of protecting the rights of the individual against the tyranny of the majority, a progressive knows how to bring health and prosperity to the greatest number of people by insuring those at the bottom have sufficient to live on. the health of a tree depends on the multitude of the roots and leaves that feed the whole tree. if you don't have money to spend, then the economy fails. if the multitude has more money to spend, then the economy thrives. this is why the trickel down theory needs to be turned upon its head, so it is a trickel up. if it isn't broken, don't fix it, and there are a lot of things that need fixin'--go get to it.
