Having been raised by a liberal mother and a conservative father, I can see both the strengths and the failings of each. I think many people feel this way, and perhaps Progressivism is a reaction to this. I see a Progressive as someone who takes the best attributes of liberalism and the best attributes of traditionalism and creates a healthy synthesis: compassion, education, leadership, creativity, intelligence, self-sufficiency, self-respect, integrity, freedom, personal and social responsibility, a hand-up to those in need rather than a hand-out, honesty, accountability, diversity, peace, and honoring that which is sacred: life itself, in its many forms.
