A progressive is someone who believes in progress. Progress in government, in civilization, and in society. Progress in understanding other cultures and religions. Progress in human relationships, tolerance, and compassion. Scientific progress, moral progress, spiritual progress. Progress in civil rights, medical rights, economic rights; in freedom, justice and liberty. A progressive embraces change as an essential element in the growth, maturity and well being of humanity. Progressives are open to all ideas, supporting ones based on equality, strength and freedom, and denouncing those based on prejudice, fear, and inequality. Progressives realize that without humankindness there can be no humankind.
