My current definition of a progressive would be one who rejects party lines and ultimately would reject the mainstream political parties that have strangled democracy in this country. A progressive does not follow a doctrine of 'liberal' or 'conservative,' but looks at the big picture, thinks for one's self and is not afraid to express politically incorrect opinions. My concept for progress in the next elections would be a campaign to vote out every incumbent at ALL levels of government that will not accept a pledge to outlaw lobbyists. It would be a matter of getting rid of all influence that special interests have over government policy. Short of a complete overthrow of our government (which should not be advocated as such would be considered treason in our current political climate), I feel that is the only way we legally can start fresh.
