Someone who believes that the role of government is to 'promote the general welfare'. Ground rules are set: environmental law, social security, fair labor standards, minimum wage, civil rights, child labor, etc.. Some would call this BIG GOVERNMENT. Under them we lose our jobs as corporations chase profits overseas. Under them our borders are not secure and immigration means 'temporary workers' that can't become citizens. Under them the free press and the courts are a threat.
