To my opinion a progressive is someone that feels his/her own wellbeing is included in the wellbeing of society, someone for whom those two concepts do not have to clash with each other, someone who does not need to put him/herself appart from the rest of the people, someone who wants to raise the standards of living for each and everyone. To put it in a nutshell, a progressive is someone who can say 'We are the society, I care for other as much as I care for me as I depend on society'.
