A progressive works for a world in which governmental policy is directed toward enhancing lifestyles for all persons through efficient government operation with enlightened long term planning horizons. This includes a prudent energy policy which clearly sees long term (50 - 100) years at the target to try to model. It includes a foreign policy which is designed to bring the world together rather than alienate. It includes a human sensitivity to provide the environment (health, education, nutrition, air quality, etc) which lets all citizens have an optimal chance for full personal achievment and self actualization. It does not include favors for special interests, wars of paranoia or greed, naievity of the realities of the valid interests of other nations, any core belief in a national superiority which supercedes friendly world diplomacy. A progressive is a caring and rational person with the best interests of our nation and of the world at the forefront of their mind.
