When combined with a rational defense structure, this will also help to protect us against domestic and international terrorism and other forms of external conflict.A progressive believes that the government has a responsibility to ensure equal opportunity for all its citizens and rejects policies that affords unfair economic or political advantage to one segment of society over others.Finally, a progressive believes that government has a responsibility to ensure an acceptable minimum standard of living for it's citizens--including universal health care and retirement benefits.
