A progressive is someone who believes we should have a health care system in which it is not necessary to be well-heeled in order to be well healed; who is not pro-choice on wars of choice; who does not want to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs, but understands that we do not need obese geese to lay golden eggs and we do not need greedy geese who keep almost all the golden eggs for themselves. A progressive is someone who does not believe that the super-rich should have over-representation without taxation, and who knows that the First Commandment does not read: “Thou Shalt Not Tax the Rich.”
