A progressive is someone who is not satisfied with 'business as usual' while taxpayers pay for a government that does not support the basic needs of the nation. Examples: Where are the taxes collected for adequate border control? Where are the taxes/funds for adequate militaryequipment? Where are the funds allotted and received for essential needs in Katrina type disasters? Why wasn't the problem (levies) in New Orleans fixed long ago? So much more 'preparedness' and 'mitigation'. What a joke! Our govt spends our hard-earned money frivolously with disasterous results. A progressive is someone who EXPECTS to receive quality services that are being funded by taxpayers. The American dream is more of a nightmare under the Bush Admin. Progressives want to restore our democracy, reengineer the federal infrastructure so it actually provides the services we have assumed, erroneously, were being funded. If America was a corporation, its Board of Directors would all be fired. Financial integrity is the very least that our govt should be held accountable for. Progressives expect fiscal responsibility, services in time of need, and leaders who think less about padding their pockets and more about how to serve Americans.
