A progressive is someone who knows checks and balance, just like the framers of our Constitution. A progressive holds their faith in their heart but at the same time holds democracy to insure that if possible everyone has individual rights. I do not agree with abortion but I can not take the right away from another who does. Liberty and choice are important. A progressive finds the actions of politicians who break laws to favor their party (eg Texan republicans redrawing voting lines so as to favor taking control of the state) as wrong and undemocratic. Progressives recognize the need for both parties so as to have a debate to bring forth the best plan possible for our nation as opposed to the divisive, 'you are with us or aginst us.' A progressive holds on to democracy and works for what is best for all while sometimes finding no benefit for oneself. A progressive looks to the future health of our nation as well as the world and disdains short term profits of the oil industry versus long term thought out plans to revive the economy with out destroying our world. A progressive is a person who has matured enough to speak against their own political party and stand alone if necessary to hold the truth as one flame in the darkness of this dangerous times.Sincerely,Bruno Schonian
